Accounting Manager
Job Location: Stamford, CT
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
- Manages the organization’s daily financial management and budgetary operations and processes.
- Initiates appropriate electronic wire transfers and debits.
- Produces and/or coordinates monthly, quarterly, year-end reports and closings.
- Produces and/or coordinates all internal and external financial reporting activities and schedules.
- Researches accounting issues and recommends accounting treatment for complex transactions such as mixed-finance transactions.
- Works with departments to identify funding needs and appropriately match those needs with sources of revenue, including operating management fees.
- Oversees all budget revisions, budget reporting, and analysis.
- Assists in the development, analysis, and review of organizational and operational systems, practices, and procedures to eliminate impediments to operations, to recognize duplication of functions, to identify under-utilization of resources, and to improve administrative processes and controls.
- Assumes other responsibilities as required to assure the effectiveness and efficiency of all budget and funding responsibilities.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Thorough knowledge of accounting/bookkeeping.
- Strong knowledge of the budgeting process.
- Ability to partner with various departments and work as a team member in preparing and providing information in response to requests.
- Ability to plan, organize, and control financial and accounting functions.
- Ability to be results-oriented and extremely well-organized to meet internal and external deadlines.
- Excellent ability to generate cooperation while performing audit and compliance responsibilities.
- Extremely detail-oriented.
- Strong knowledge of general office and administrative procedures.
- Excellent ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced team environment.
Education/Experience Requirements:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business management, or a related discipline is mandatory. In addition, a minimum of seven (7) years of accounting experience is required.
